Harold E. Pelz was born on September 1, 1914, at Blairsburg, Iowa, to parents Ben and Evelyn (Loban) Pelz. Harold and Margaret Hiemstra were united in marriage on June 22, 1949, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Three children were blessed to this marriage: Marguerite, Carol, and Dale. Harold and Margaret lived in the Redwood Falls-Delhi-Wabasso, Minnesota areas before they made their home in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. In 1996 they moved to the Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Harold became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center in April of 2000. He was a member of the Clarkfield United Methodist Church. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, his gun collection, and also enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. Harold passed away Saturday evening, April 21, 2001, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 20 days. He is survived by his children: Marguerite (and John D.) Altmann of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Carol (and Mark) Long of Clarkfield; and Dale Pelz of Northfield, Minnesota. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Melissa Roder, Anthony Roder, Matthew Roder, Michael Altmann, Deborah Wertish, Larry Altmann, Julie Altmann; great grandchild McKenzie Rose Wertish; sisters: Vi Novak, Dorothy Uhlenkamp, Lois Boschert, Phyliss Ellis and Ruth Kyle; and brother Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret in 2000, and sister Delores Pelz. Blessed be his memory.
