Harold LeRoy Nagel was born to parents Carl (Charlie) and Mathilda (Amundson) Nagel. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. He attended Country School District #56 and graduated from Boyd High School in 1929. He attended North Dakota State University for one year. During the depression, Harold worked in Washington picking apples and in Iowa husking corn. Harold and Pearl Jeanette Sundquist were married in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, on October 4, 1947. They lived on the family farm, the farm that Harold lived his entire life. He farmed until he retired in 1977. In his earlier years, Harold played amateur baseball with teams from Boyd, Montevideo, Clarkfield and Marshall. He also played in the local fast pitch softball leagues. In later years, he enjoyed watching major league baseball, especially spring training in Winter Haven, Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He served on the Board of Directors at the State Bank of Boyd, Director of Consumer Co-op of Clarkfield, Ten Mile Lake Township Board and Trustee at Trinity Lutheran Church. Harold passed away at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, on Monday, October, 8, 2007, at the age of 95 years and 9 months. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of 60 years and four children: Gary (Lou Ann) Nagel of Boyd, Minnesota, Diane (Greg) Posch of Owatonna, Minnesota, Jennifer (and special friend Richard Butler) of Basel, Switzerland, and Jean Nagel of Fridley, and two granddaughters: Vanessa and Victoria Nagel. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Irene Stava and two infant children. Blessed be his memory.
