IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold William
Anhalt
November 20, 1911 – April 4, 2004
Harold William Anhalt was born November 20, 1911, in Elkhorn Township, Divide County, North Dakota, to William and Anne (Larson) Anhalt. He became a Child of God through baptism and renewed his vows through confirmation. He rode his bike or horse to attend high school in Westby, Montana, and was proud of his high school graduation. Harold married Leona Footh on February 20, 1935, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, and was a faithful member of St. John's his entire life. He served many years as a Trustee and later an Elder of the church. Harold and Leona celebrated 60 years of marriage. They lived in Montana for a couple years, when Harold worked at the Fort Peck Dam and then moved back to Minnesota and farmed in Yellow Medicine County until retirement. Harold and Leona moved to Clarkfield in 1984. Farming and "growing things" were in Harold's blood. His gardens were weedless and everyone enjoyed his "crops". Harold entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1999. He passed away at the Care Center on Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 15 days. He is survived by his children: Marilyn Footh of Bloomington, Minnesota, Myron (and Darlene) Anhalt of Canby, Minnesota, Dale (and LaVonne) Anhalt of Canby, Minnesota, and Karen (and James) Mamer of Dawson, Minnesota. Also surviving are grandchildren: Linda Copland, Lorie Footh, Wade Footh, Michael Anhalt, Tamera Anhalt-Warner, Chad Anhalt, Jason Mamer and Kristie Towner; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; brother Elmer (and Lillian) Anhalt; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alpha and Stacy; wife Leona; son Larry (in infancy); son-in-law Earl Footh; and infant granddaughter, Sandra Footh. Blessed be his memory.
