Harland Francis Jacobson was born December 11, 1920, on the family homestead in Normania Township, rural Hanley Falls, Minnesota, to Alex and Julia Stevens Jacobson. At Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Harland was baptized in January of 1921 and confirmed May 12, 1935. He attended country school in District 45. On October 1, 1949 he married Norma Smolley. Harland was a farmer all his life. Harland served many years as a Normania Township Officer and the Spring Creek Church Secretary and cemetery sexton. Harland was an inventive person, figuring how a project could be better done. He was a gardener until his health failed. Harland died Wednesday, July 15, 1992, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 71. Harland is survived by his wife, Norma; mother, Julia; son, Dean and his wife Betty; two grandchildren, Sabrina and Craig; brother, Kenneth and his wife, Kathleen; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Alex; and two brothers, Howard and Ariel.
