August 15, 1874 – November 6, 1954
Hans Huglen Hanson was born August 15, 1874, in Branvig, Norway, the son of Hans Branvig Huglen and Johanne Halvorsdatter Tvedt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Branvig church. He came to America in 1893 and returned to Norway in 1900 where he was united in marriage to Helene Hendrika Sabe on July 14, 1900. They immigrated to America on the eighth day of September, 1900. They came to Kanawha, Iowa, where they lived until February, 1902. They then moved to Minneota, Minnesota, and settled on a farm in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, where they lived for 35 years before moving to Clarkfield in September 1937. When they first came to Clarkfield, they joined St. Lucas Lutheran Church. In 1926 they joined Israel Lutheran Church where Mr. Hanson served as a deacon for a number of years. In 1953 the Hansons joined Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hanson. Surviving are two sons, Joseph of Marshall, Minnesota, and Sigurd of Minneota, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one brother, Halvor Huglen in Norway. He passed away Saturday morning, November 6, 1954, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital. Preceding him in death was his wife, Helene, who passed away November 27, 1953, and four children, namely Ingeline, Amandus, Harry and Inga (Mrs. Randolph Norem).
