IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hannah (Hagen)
Cole
April 12, 1879 – April 12, 1879
Hannah Cole, the daughter of Hans and Maria (Johanson) Hagen, was born on April 12, 1879, at Vardahl, Norway. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on June 2, 1879, at Vardahl, Norway, and confirmed by Rev. Knut Thorstenson at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls in 1893. On June 21, 1899, she was united in marriage to Lewis Cole of Hanley Falls. This union was blessed with nine sons and two daughters. Hannah shared the occupation of farming with her husband on the family farm to which her family had brought her from Norway at the age of five. Her husband passed away in 1945 and since that time she continued her residence on the family farm with her son, Ordell, and her daughter-in-law, Elvera. She was a devout member of the Hanley Falls Church; a life member of the Women's Missionary Federation; a member of the Yellow Medicine Church Women and the Mary Martha Circle Bible study group until she entered the Clarkfield Community Hospital on February 22, 1964. She passed away on April 3, 1964, just nine days before her 85th birthday. A short time before her passing, she shared with several of her children the blessed experience of the Lord's Supper. Her life was a challenge to her family in her characterization of patience, love and faith. Her husband, Lewis; two sons, Adolph and Selmer, and three brothers: Einar, Ingval and Belvin, preceded her in death. Surviving are her sons, Leonard and Ordell of Hanley Falls, Marvin of Minneapolis, Arthur and Rudolph of Granite Falls, Palmer of Wood Lake, Harold of New London; daughters: Mabel (Mrs. Raymond Weeks) of Clarkfield and Hazel (Mrs. Edwin Loe) of Cottonwood; two brothers: Henry of Leonard, Minnesota, and Martin of Hanley Falls; 31 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
