Annie M. (Haaland) Christensen was born February 5, 1921, in Friendship Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Gabriel and Barbara (Fenn) Haaland. She was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1936 at Spring Creek Lutheran Church by Rev. J. E. H. Akre. She attended school in District #28 through the 8th grade. On January 16, 1943, she married Clarence H. Christensen. They farmed in Swede Prairie Township near Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they raised two children, Connie and Claire. Annie continued living on their farm after Clarence's death in 1991. She enjoyed maintaining the large yard, gardening, cooking and quilting. She enjoyed visits from family and friends and loved to make coffee and share homemade cookies. She was an active member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church until it's closing in 1997. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Connie and Thomas VanDePutte and her son Claire Christensen all of Clarkfield; sisters Mabel Brandt of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Helen Leasman of Boyd, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Viola Haaland of Clarkfield and Amy Christensen of Montevideo, Minnesota, plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; infant granddaughter Mary Ann; brothers: Ole, Kenneth, Gustav, Gerhard and Karl; and sisters: Hannah Evenson, Gladys Christensen, Christine Aakvik and Minnie Christensen.
