Gustava Pedersen passed away June 2nd, 1953, at the Clarkfield Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years. She was born near Stavanger, Norway, February 8, 1866, to Ole and Grethe (Kverneland) Lende. She came with her parents to America at the age of 13 years, and they settled on a farm in Lyon County, Minnesota. In 1886 she was untied in marriage to Nicolai Pedersen, and moved to his farm near Clarkfield. There were eleven children in the family, seven of whom are still living. They are Nora (Mrs. Adolph Mossige) of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Oscar, Leonard and Sylvia (Mrs. Lestof Miller) of Clarkfield, Nettie (Mrs. Maxwell Wait) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, George Peterson of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Bergliot (Mrs. E.R. Larson) of Anoka, Minnesota. There are 23 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Bertha Mauland survives of the four sisters and three brothers in the Lende family. Her husband and four daughters preceded her in death. They were Christine (Mrs. Arnt Ree), Grethe (Mrs. W.L. Paul), Ella (Mrs. Charles Berdeen) and Ruth (Mrs. Herbert Jacobson). Her philosophy of life sustained her through many trials and won her many friends. Blessed be her memory.
