Gustav Kuhlmann, 83, of Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, passed away quietly in his sleep at his home early on November 26, 1988. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 1988, from Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Pastor Wayne Anderson officiated and organist was Kathy Jahn. Casket Bearers were Nick Busse, Harold Dammermann, Chris, Donald, Jon and Tom Kuhlmann. Interment and commital services were at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, Camp Release Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. Gustav Kuhlmann was born in Huntlosen, Germany, on May 17, 1905, to Wilhelm and Anna Kuhlmann. Gustav immigrated to the United States in 1923. In 1930 he returned to Germany for a visit and met his future wife, Frieda Elise Ellinghausen. They were married on July 10, 1931. To this union three children were born, Robert, married to Shirley Rolighed of Dawson, Minnesota, Dennis married to Karen Johnson of Colorado, and Louise married to David Busse of Appleton, Minnesota, now of Duluth, Minnesota. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frieda Kuhlmann of Montevideo, Minnesota; and a brother, Karl of Huntlosen, Germany; many nieces and nephews also in Germany; and one nephew, Roger Kuhlmann of Montevideo. After coming to the United States, Gustav and Lissy farmed until his retirement in 1972. He has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving his Lord as an Elder and on the Church Council. Gustav was also active in his community as a school board member and attending all meetings for the betterment of Boyd. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Blessed be his memory.
