Gustav Alfred Christopherson who was born in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on July 24, 1887, to parents Halvor and Berthea (Abrahamson) Christopherson, passed away Sunday, March 10, 1974, at the Clarkfield Hospital following a very brief illness. Gust was baptized in the Bergen Lutheran Church by Pastor Ole Lokensgaard and confirmed by Pastor H.O. Fjeldstad in the same church. He attended grade school in Lisbon Township. His lifelong occupation was farming. On December 22, 1914, Gust and Alma Stenson of rural Clarkfield were united in marriage. They farmed in the Clarkfield area until the fall of 1947, when they moved to Clarkfield. Two children blessed their union: Hiram, who with his family, lives on the home place, and Gladys (Mrs. Ed Helgeson) who resides in California. There are five grandchildren: Bruce, Richard and Barbara Christopherson, Michael Helgeson and Patrica Helgeson (Mrs. Lowell Lundy); and four great grandchildren: Chad and Ryan Christopherson, Krista Lee Helgeson and Rochell Lee Lundy. In addition to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Gustav is survived by his wife, Alma. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 13, 1974, at 2:00 p.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church, Rev. E.T. Fyrand officiating. Organist was Mrs. David Gabrielson. Mrs. Myron Friberg and Mrs. Johnie Sturgeon sang a duet. Casket Bearers were Ed Falk, Roy Hoffman, Elmo Sanvig, Jack Skogen, Arden Stenson and Lucius Tongen. Burial was in Bergen Lutheran Cemetery.
