Gunhild Brusven was born November 17, 1884, in Sirdal, Norway, the daughter of Ole and Helena (Torgerson) Christopherson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Lunde church there. At the age of 19 years, she came to America, together with her parents, brothers and sisters, and settled in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. On March 24, 1916, she was united in marriage to Alfred Brusven of Normania Township, where they farmed on the same farm until two years ago when her husband passed away. She then moved to Clarkfield where she resided with a nephew and niece, Elmer and Vivian Berre. Mrs. Brusven passed away October 11, 1962, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 77 years, after a lingering Illness. Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, three brothers and three sisters. Gunhild will be remembered for her patience, kindness and uncomplaining ways. She leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Sophie (Mrs. Floyd Thompson) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one brother, Mr. Torger Christopherson of Canby, Minnesota; Elmer and Vivian Berre; besides a number of nieces and nephews, friends and relatives.
