(Kaldheim) Erickson
January 13, 1900 – April 29, 1998
Gunda Johanna Kaldheim was born in Etne, Norway on January 13, 1900 to Johannes Kaldheim and Guro Lovvig Kaldheim. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young lady she helped her mother who was a mortician. Many tasks were performed at night in the barn using a lantern for light. She was married on May 18, 1925 in Stavanger, Norway to Daniel Stolsmark Erickson. They immigrated to the United States in August 1925 and settled west of Hanley Falls, MN. They farmed in Sandnes Township for 29 years. Gunda moved to Hanley Falls in 1959 after the death of Daniel. Gunda enjoyed music and singing. She was a faithful member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Choir for 50 years.and also sang at many funerals and other special occasions as a soloist. Cooking and baking Norwegian delicacies were an important part of her life. She had a sense of pride about setting a "nice" table for her guests. She died on April 29, 1998 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital. Survivors include her daughters Doris Koenen (Marvin) of Clarkfield, MN, Gudrun Brauer (Donald) of Edina, MN, and a special relative Larry Molsather (Linda) of Minnetonka. MN; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, infant daughter, Mae Belle, one brother and one sister.
