IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gudron Maria
(Gudmundson) Hanson
December 27, 1894 – December 27, 1894
Gudrun Maria Hanson was born in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, near Minneota, Minnesota, on December 27, 1894. She was the daughter of Albert and Una (Thorkelson) Gudmundson, who were immigrants to this country from Iceland. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. B.B. Johnson at the Westerheim Lutheran Church, where she also was confirmed by Rev. Johnson on April 5, 1910. On December 12, 1917, Maria Gudmundson was united in marriage to Orville T. Hanson, also of Swede Prairie Township. The first two years of their marriage were spent on a farm in Tyro Township near Clarkfield, Minnesota. In December, 1920, they moved to the H.S. Hanson farm in Swede Prairie where they lived until the spring of 1944, when the family moved to a farm southwest of Cottonwood. It was at this home in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, that she passed peacefully away after a lingering illness, at the age of 66 years. On June 1, 1949, she suffered a stroke from which she partially recovered. Twenty-one months later, on March 1, 1951, following the funeral of her husband, she suffered a severe stroke which left her completely helpless. She was cared for at her farm home by her daughters for the ten and one-half years she was bedridden. She is survived by her four children: Howard, Bertha, Charlotte (Mrs. Joe Hoff) all of Cottonwood, and Una Marie (Mrs. Leslie Lamb) of Minneapolis. Seven grandchildren also survive, as well as two sisters, Christine Gudmundson of Minneota, Minnesota, and Ina (Mrs. S.E. Isfeld) of Porter, Minnesota, and two brothers, Carl and Steve Gudmundson of Minneota. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She will be remembered for her faithfulness and kindness in her active years and her great patience in her long illness. IN MEMORY OF MRS. ORVILLE T.
