Gordon Herbert Winge was born October 7, 1915 at Boyd, Minnesota to parents William and Elina (Ofstie) Winge. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. Gordy attended and graduated from Boyd High School in 1934. Gordy married Doris Arlene Alstad at Watertown, SD on September 3, 1938. To this union were born: Ellen, Gail, Neal, Julie, and Bruce. He entered the United States Army on June 15, 1945. After being discharged on January 22, 1946, he worked at the Hanska Feed Mill for a few years. He then returned to Boyd, where he worked for the Boyd Feed Mill for over 27 years. Gordy served on the Boyd School Board and also was a member of the Boyd Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Gordon Winge passed away at his home in Boyd on Sunday, March 31, 1996 at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 25 days. He is survived by his children: Ellen (and Dan) Dames of St. Paul, Gail (and Dennis) Long of Canby, Julie Nilson, Neal and Bruce Winge all of Boyd. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and brother LeRoy (and Vivian) Winge of Cokato, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, son-in-law Jerry Nilson, brother Eldon and sister Evelyn. Blessed be his memory.
