Gordon Howard Day was born October 5, 1934, to Sidney Roy and Laurena Reiten Day. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1952, spent two years in the U. S. Army, eighteen months of which was in Korea, graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, in 1960 and received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. Gordon married Marilyn Mork in 1959. They have three daughters: Kristi (husband Charley) Hewett; Shari and Cindy Day; and one granddaughter, Katelyn Day Hewett. Gordon passed away on July 11, 1992, from cancer at his home in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin at the age of 57. Gordon has worked for Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan for thirty years and most recently served as Vice President of Program Services. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, football, skiing, and golf. He was involved in Toastmasters and Kiwanis in Wauwatosa. He was very active in his local church serving in several positions, and was president of the congregation up until the time of his death. He was a member of many advisory boards, including Pathfinders, a home for run-aways. He served on a national Lutheran Church Life and Mission Board for many years. Gordon was a brother to many. His quiet leadership, insightful advice, and clever sense of humor will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; daughters: Kristi (Charley) Hewett, Shari and Cindy Day, and granddaughter, Katelyn Hewett. He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Mildred Odegard (Wally) and Dale (wife Carol) Day, all of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Darwin (wife Shirley) Day of Luverne, Minnesota, Margaret (Harry) Morland of Marshall, Minnesota, Lois (Ron) Owens of Willmar, Minnesota, Keith (wife Paulette) Day of Streamwood, Illinois, and Jerry Day of Fargo, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by son Mark Daniel, his parents, brother Donald, and sister Delores (Ellsworth) Ellingboe.
