Gladys Ovedia Pauline (Westre) Jurgenson was born May 21, 1908, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Lars and Cecelia (Lund) Westre. She was one of seven siblings. Gladys was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, and attended Clarkfield Public School. Gladys married Arden Jurgenson in 1928 at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. They were the parents of five boys and two girls. Gladys was a homemaker and also worked at the Sanitary Bakery in Clarkfield for 15 years. She was a lifetime member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lutheran Social Service Board. Gladys passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center, where she had been a resident since 1995, on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the age of 97 years and 18 days. She is survived by her family: daughter-in-law Darlene Jurgenson of Clarkfield, daughter Jeanne (and Luverne) Johnson of Kenyon, Minnesota, son Arden (and Janice) Jurgenson of Plainview, Minnesota, son Richard (and Elizabeth) Jurgenson of Montevideo, Minnesota, son Howard Jurgenson of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and daughter Caron (and John) Aeikens of Sacred Heart, Minnesota. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; sister Elise Husby of Clarkfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arden; sons Roland and Larry; daughter-in-law Phyllis; brothers: Oscar, Lloyd, Eugene, Walter; and sister Charlette.
