Gladys Irene Olson was born on a farm near Cottonwood, Minnesota on September 14, 1912, to Ole and Marie (Olson) Olson. She grew up in the Cottonwood area and graduated from Cottonwood High School. She lived in Cottonwood until 1935 at which time she married Harold Gullickson. She worked in cafes and later owned the Gullickson Cafe in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Gladys also worked at the Granite Falls Manor for 20 years as a nurses aid then retired to stay home and care for her husband until his death in 1983. She then resided in Granite Falls, Minnesota and in 1985 moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Among her hobbies, quilting was a favorite. Gladys passed away in the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday, January 9, 1992, at the age of 79 years. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Saunders and her husband, Herbert of Scottsdale, Arizona; three grandchildren, Kurt of Mesa, Arizona, Jennifer, Craig and his wife, Merilee; two great grandchildren, Brenna and Haley Saunders, all of Scottsdale, Arizona; one brother, Arthur Olson and his wife Lillian of Cottonwood, Minnesota; and one sister, Hazel White and her husband Bill of Flora, Indiana. Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; three sisters, Ruth and Mabel Olson, and Esther Anderson; and a brother, Elmer Olson.
