Gladys Lucille (Larson) Soppeland was born June 14, 1920 to Carl and Emma Larson in Clarkfield, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church of rural Clarkfield. She married Carold Soppeland on October 12, 1940 at Israel Church. They lived at various places until 1958 when they moved to the farm five miles south of Clarkfield. In 1967 Gladys started working at the Clarkfield Care Center, a position she held until 1996. Gladys enjoyed being with her many friends and family at the lake cabin, playing cards, making lefse, and visiting. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Carold in 1980, her parents, three brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Nancy) Westphal of Owatonna, MN; sons Jim and wife Deanna of Clarkfield; Michael and wife Miriam of Frederic, WI; and Paul and wife Vicky of Marshall, MN; two sisters, Edith Berg and Dorothy Nikolaisen; and one brother, Olaf Larson, all of Clarkfield; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Gladys went to be with Jesus on February 9, 1998 at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 26 days. May God bless her memory to those who live beyond her.
