Gertrude Irene (Bly) Dahl, 86, of Minneota, Minnesota, died Friday, February 14, 1986, at the Minneota Manor Nursing Home. Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 1986, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota, with Pastor Kenneth Johnson officiating. Organist was Gwen Arneson with vocal music by Curt Dahl. Casket Bearers were John, Jeffrey and Joel Dahl, Wendell and Norman Knudson and Arthur Clementson. Final Resting Place is the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cottonwood, Minnesota. She was born September 8, 1899, in Hills, Minnesota, to Peter H. and Inga (Severson) Bly. The family moved to Cottonwood in 1903. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. On July 12, 1923, she married Ludvig T. Dahl and they had a daughter, lone. Gertrude was a homemaker and for many years a faithful servant to the Lord in church work and auxiliary. Her husband died in 1968 and she continued to live in their home in east Cottonwood until May of 1975 when she moved into West Prairie Apartments in Cottonwood. Here and also at the Senior Citizen Center she loved the companionship of friends. She enjoyed good health until this past year when she spent much of her time with Kay and lone in their home. She is survived by daughter lone (Mrs. Kay) Knudson of rural Cottonwood; grandchildren, Beverly (Mrs. Tom) Fedje of Bettendorf, Iowa, Dr. Lon Knudson of North Mankato, Minnesota, Kurt Knudson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Karolee Knudson of Marshall, Minnesota; five great grandchildren; sister Mrs. Eva Hatlestad of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
