Gertie Rowberg was born on October 22, 1896, in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to the late Even K. and Anne (Aasen) Rowberg. She spent her early years on the farm with her parents and remained with them and took care of them after they retired from active farming and moved to Hanley Falls. After her parents passing, she resided at the same place until her death. She passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on May 3, 1972. She attended school in District 50 of Sandnes Township and the Hanley Falls School and trained herself as a seamstress which became her occupation during her adult years. She was a life member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and Circles. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and in her later years, was also a very active member of the Senior Citizens organization. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Conrad, and one sister, Emma, who died in infancy. Surviving are one sister, Alma Hegg of Minneapolis; two brothers: Gilbert of Benson, Minnesota, and Jens of Hanley Falls; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ella Rowberg, also of Hanley Falls; and nieces and nephews.
