Funeral services for Gerhard N. Halvorson were held Wednesday, June 19, 1974, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Rev. Gordon Trelstad officiating. Soloist was Greg Swanson who was accompanied at the organ by Mary Smith. Casket Bearers were Brian Droen, Dwight Droen, Virgil Enevoldson, Allen Satre, Dale Syde, and Robert Walford. Gerhard Nobel Halvorson was born on November 11, 1911, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Nels Halvorson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. On October 9, 1941, he was united in marriage to Elsie Toombs of Dawson, Minnesota. He spent most of his years in the Clarkfield community. In 1965 he became ill and had been in ailing health until his departure on June 16, 1974. Survivors include his wife Elsie; three brothers: Hilmar of Montevideo, Minnesota, Erling of Hibbing, Minnesota, and Alvin of Crookston, Minnesota; two sisters: Pearl Nelson of Hopkins, Minnesota, and Thelma Sabe of Clarkfield; sister-in-law, Gertrude Droen of Hopkins, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
