Gerhard Anderson was born on February 12, 1917, at his home in rural Cottonwood, Minnesota, to parents Andrew and Gertrude (Nilson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. His faith and trust in Jesus Christ his Savior gave joy and strength in his life. Gerhard attended Country School one mile from his home. He took over the family farm when his parents retired. Hunting and fishing were his favorite sports. On May 2, 1947, he married Lila Johnson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. They adopted two children: Marlene and Duane. Gerhard passed away at his home on Monday, June 26, 2006, at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 14 days. He is survived by his wife Lila, their children: Marlene, Duane, and daughter-in-law Evey. Also surviving is his grandson Remi; three step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; sister-in-law Myrtle Anderson; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Johanas and Nels and sisters Gienhild and Anne. Gerhard will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
