Gerald Waldemar Just was born on the family farm near Boyd, Minnesota, on March 19, 1922, to parents Carl E. and Clara E. (Hartfiel) Just Sr. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in March of 1922 and confirmed on May 14, 1934, at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1939. Jerry and Della Marguerite Burroughs were married on June 15, 1946, at Bloomington, Illinois. They were the parents of two children: Gerald Randolph and Judy Ann. Jerry farmed his entire life. He was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he held various board positions including Elder, usher and singing in the church choir. He was a past board member of the Clarkfield Farmers Elevator Board and past Farmers Union Member. He played softball with the 'Tyro Aces'. Jerry and Della enjoyed bowling in the Couples League for many years in Montevideo and Granite Falls. They spent many hours fishing on Lake Minnewaska and enjoyed visiting with family and friends at their lake cabin. Jerry also enjoyed goosehunting at Lac qui Parle in the fall and league golfing in Montevideo all summer. His biggest joy however, was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88 years and 29 days. He is survived by his wife of 63+ years, Della, of Clarkfield, Minnesota; daughter, Judy A. Just of Oliva, Minnesota, and special friend Norm Shubert, of Danube, Minnesota; Granddaughter, Lisa Just of Moscow, Idaho; Grandson Patrick Just and wife Sonya of Moscow, Idaho; siblings: Urban Just, Angeline Stice, Evelyn Jurgenson, Rebecca Luther, Carl (and Glenda) Just Jr., Anita and Hugh VanVoorst; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Gerald Randolph; sisters Janice Just and Elaine Nelson; brother Delbert Just and sister-in-law Mildred Just; and brothers-in-law Jack Stice, William Luther and Robert Jurgenson.
