George Carl Trovatten was born February 22, 1893, in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, and was baptized at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, by Rev. Knut Thorstenson. He was confirmed by Rev. John Salhus at Spring Creek Lutheran Church in 1907. On February 22, 1933, he was joined in marriage by Miss Leona Erickson of Luck, Wisconsin, by Rev. John Salhus in Minneapolis. To this marriage, God added his blessing of three daughters: Jo Ann, Ardis and Marion, and a son, Roy. George Trovatten was a graduate of St. Olaf Academy. He was also a graduate of Beloit College in Wisconsin. He entered the teaching profession and taught in the high schools of several upper mid-western states, until his appointment as Superintendent in the South Dakota school system. He also entered into the service of his county during World War I. George Trovatten has suffered a heart condition for several years and passed from this life at the Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 68 years. He was preceded in death by his four brothers: Oscar, Lewis, Rollef and John; and a sister, Anna. He is survived by his wife, Leona of Hanley Falls, and by his three daughters: JoAnn Trovatten and Ardis Trovatten, both of Hanley Falls and Marion Trovatten of Minneapolis; and his son, Roy of Hanley Falls. He is also survived by his two brothers: Otto of Henning, Minnesota, and Olaf of Campbell; and his sister, Mrs. Charles Monte of Los Angeles, California. IN MEMORY OF GEORGE C.
