George Stanton Silver of St. Paul, Minnesota, was born September 26, 1930, in Clarkfield, Minnesota, to George and Rose Silver. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1948 and was employed by the Clarkfield Telephone Co. for many years. He moved to St. Paul in 1959 and was married to Beatrice Smith Garry on November 4, 1967. He was employed as an accountant at the Olsen, Thielen Co. until the time of his death. Sports had been a major part of his life. While living in Clarkfield, he managed the town baseball team and wrote the sport section for the Advocate and a column for the Willmar, Minnesota paper. George has been an active member of the Lions Club, Telephone Association, Shoreview Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Council at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Shoreview, Minnesota. He died Saturday, June 11, 1983, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 52. His kindness and love for people has touched all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Bea; Mother, Rose Silver Carter; step-son, David Garry, San Diego, California; step-grandson, Brandon Garry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Art Fredrickson, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cathy and Delas Kirkeby, Alexandria, Minnesota; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marlene Silver, Clarkfield; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and innumerable friends and associates.
