Obituary

George Albin Rosen was born on May 29, 1929, to Claus A. and Ruth Scharf Rosen in Minneapolis. He was baptized by Rev. Mason on December 27, 1929, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was confirmed by Rev. Paul L Wetzler on May 21, 1944, at Salem English Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He attended school in Montevideo and Minneapolis and completed his high school education while in the army. He enlisted in the Army in January 1949 and served seven years. On April 13, 1951, while stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Willander at Redland, Maryland. They made their home at Alexandria, Virginia. In January 1952, they were transferred to the Panama Canal Zone, and were stationed at Fort Kobbe and Fort Clayton. For one year and one-half, he was instructor in R. O. T. C. at Balboa High School. They returned stateside in September 1955 and spent the remaining fifteen months at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Since then they have lived in Minneapolis. At the time of his death, he was employed by Gamble- Skogmo. Three children were born to this couple. Gregory was born in Virginia, Nancy Jo at Fort Clayton and Gloria in Minneapolis. George loved flying and had passed his private pilot's examination. He enjoyed building and flying model planes. He is survived by his wife, Norma, and three children: Gregory, 10, Nancy, 8 and Gloria, 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Rosen of Elk River, Minnesota; three sisters: Elaine (Mrs. Donald Hudson) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Joan (Mrs. Donald Haugland) of Watson, Minnesota, and Nancy (Mrs. Ronald Beaman) of Minneapolis; grandfather, Frank Scharf of Elk River, Minnesotaa, and a host of relatives and friends.
