George S. Leenerts, 88, of Boyd, Minnesota, passed away November 26, 1988. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 1988, at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor Wayne Anderson of Granite Falls, Minnesota, officiating. Final Resting Place was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Organist was Kathy Jahn and soloist was granddaughter Diane Saumer of Brainerd, Minnesota. Casket Bearers were grandsons, Vernon, Robby, Dean and James Leenerts and Larry and Lanny Ostenson. George was born near Bruning, Nebraska, on October 17, 1900, to Henry and Margaret (Smith) Leenerts. He was baptized and confirmed by Reverend Cronik at German Lutheran Church at Bruning, Nebraska. George married Ethel Elnora West on February 1, 1922 at Bruning. George farmed most of his life, first at Bruning and on March 1, 1941, the family moved to a farm near Boyd. He was an elder at Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by wife Ethel; son Dale and wife Ethel of Boyd; daughter Betty Ostenson and husband Warner of New Hope, Minnesota; son Robert of Moundsview, Minnesota; son Kenneth and wife Gerry of Clarkfield, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and one sister Linda Leenerts of Hastings, Nebraska.
