George Frederick Hermann Koepp, son of Gottlieb and Ida (Rothke) Koepp, was born August 27, 1874, at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was baptized on September 27, 1874, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, by Rev. Paul Lucas. He came to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with his parents who settled on a homestead in Tyro Township. Here Mr. Koepp spent most of his childhood and received his formal education and grew to manhood. He was confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township by Rev Chr. Boettcher. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Koepp entered a second marriage with Elizabeth Scharf on June 12, at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was known in the community as a successful farmer and a good citizen. He remained a faithful member of Zion Lutheran unto the day of his death, having served his church for many years as a janitor, and on various committees and boards and in many other ways showed an active interest in the preaching of the Gospel.
