George Gautefall, 89, of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, November 23, 1988, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 1988, at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, with Pastor Larry Olson officiating. Music was provided by organist Colleen Hewitt and soloist Mavis Ellingson. Casket Bearers were Michael, Verle, Dennis and Dean Halvorson, David, Robert, Thomas and Roger Wilson, Douglas and Donald Gilbertson, Bradley, Wayne, Paul, and Timothy Tjosaas, Joseph and Steven Roney and Jeffrey Nelson. Military Rites by American Legion Post No. 559, Hazel Run, Minnesota. Final Resting Placel was in the West Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Mr. Gautefell was born February 27, 1899, in Sandnes Township in Yellow Medicine County to Lars and Sophia (Haugen) Gautefall. He was baptized and confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. He attended country school and was a veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post No. 559 in Hazel Run. On November 13, 1954, he married Mary Hanson Foss at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. He farmed most of his life. Survivors include nephews, Hiram Halvorson of Loveland Colorado, Lloyd Halvorson of Hanley Falls and Mervin Gilbertson of Marshall, Minnesota; and nieces Myrna Wilson and Sandra Nelson both of Marshall, Carol Tjosaas of Kasson, Minnesota and Jeanette Roney of St. Mountain, Georgia; and Myron Anderson of Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
