Genevieve Torke passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Saturday, October 10 at the age of 75 after a short battle with cancer. Genevieve "Gen" Lucille (Waller) Torke was born July 3, 1923 to Oscar and Ida (Colston) Waller, Sr. in Sioux Agency township in Yellow Medicine County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Granite Falls and Hanley Falls. Before her marriage to Harold Torke on October 21, 1945 she was employed in Minneapolis. Gen and Harold farmed and had dairy cows in Wood Lake and Sandes townships. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery work, collecting chickens, and sharing her homemade pickles with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Gloria and son-in-law Michael Gunlogson of Clarkfield and son Howard and daughter-in-law Sandie of Hanley Falls. She has five grandsons, Matthew, Andrew, and Samuel Gunlogson, Chad and Adam Torke and one step grandson Matthew Woodruff. She is also survived by a sister Eloise of Burnsville and brothers Janus and Oscar of Clarkfield, Charles of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Dwaine of Noonan, North Dakota. She is preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Arnold, Carroll, and Harvey and a sister Ione and her parents. Pall bearers: Matthew, Andrew, Samuel Gunlogson, Chad and Adam Torke.
