Geneva Trudy Johnson was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on March 21, 1901, the daughter of the late Ole and Bertha (Johnson) Oakland. She was baptized and confirmed at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Clarkfield community. She attended country school for eight years and later the Clarkfield High School. Geneva was united in marriage to Basil J. Johnson in 1920 at Granite Falls, Minnesota. She was a wonderful mother and housewife, besides being bookkeeper for her husband's tiling contracting company for many years until he retired. She, also, worked very diligently in her church and school wherever her family was involved. She was a member of the Clarkfield Assembly Of God Church. Geneva passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1993 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 91 years 10 months and 21 days. She had been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center for almost eight years. Surviving Geneva are her sons: Edward of Clarkfield, Gene and wife Elaine of Clarkfield, Mentor of Minneapolis, daughters: Burnet Aase, Montevideo, Myrtle Osmundson and husband Richard J. of East Grand Forks, Orda Reiten and husband Ardeen, Minnetonka, Virginia Johnson, Los Angeles, California, one sister, Mrs. Christ Spande (Ora) of Minneapolis, 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil J. Johnson in 1986, son Robert Johnson, 1976, infant grandson Charles Johnson, her parents, Ole and Bertha Oakland, one infant brother, Lawrence (1), adult brothers, Henry and Lawrence (2), young sisters, Mabel and Marie (1), adult sisters, Clara Bue, Marie (2) Oakland and Cora Winson.
