Gena Anderson was born June 26, 1909, in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, to parents Mads and Sarah (Skallen) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota, and attended Rural School District # 55. Gena lived on their family farm near Boyd, along with her brother Marius and sister Jennie. The three of them farmed and Gena and Jennie enjoyed working in their gardens and raising flowers. Gena also enjoyed making quilts and other fancy work. The Andersons moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in October of 1997. Gena moved to the Clarkfield Care Center in November of 1999 and remained a resident there until her death on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the age of 95 years and 23 days. She is survived by her sister Jennie, of Clarkfield and cousins in Norway and the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother John and brother Marius in 1998.
