Gary L. "Ole" Olson was born on January 14, 1954, at the Clarkfield Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents Leo and Gloria (Feist) Olson. He was baptized in February of 1954 at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and later confirmed at the same church. Gary grew up in Clarkfield with his parents and sisters Ginger and Wendy. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1972. Gary married Jody Lynne (Larson) at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church on June 7, 1975. They were the parents of three sons: Jeremy, Joey and Zachary. He worked for the City of Clarkfield and also was a concrete mason. He was a softball legend with Number 33 being his favorite number. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flag football, City League golf, and was a past member of the Clarkfield Fire Department. He loved music, movies and life. Gary was presently living in Marshall, Minnesota. Gary passed away on Friday, August 17, 2007, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with his family at his side. He reached the age of 53 years, 7 months, and 3 days. He is survived by his children: Jeremy "Duke" Olson of Marshall, Minnesota, Joey Olson of Mankato, Minnesota, Zachary Olson of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Heidi Burnett of Walnut Grove, Minnesota. He is also survived by his father, Leo Olson, of Clarkfield, sister Ginger (and Peter) Thomsen of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and brother-in-law Gary Hofmann of Clarkfield. Also surviving are nieces: Jessica Aamot, Manda (and Paul) Sandstrom, Grete Thomsen, Josie (and Tony) Laleman and great nephew Max Sandstrom. He is also survived by his animals, Abby and Brittany. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria M. Olson and sister Wendy Hofmann. Blessed be his memory.
