Gary Ronald Haaland was born to Jewell and Josie (Hovdesven) Haaland at Clarkfield, Minnesota on March 23, 1942. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1960. On August 13, 1966, he and Lorraine Wogen were married at Marshalltown, Iowa. They have two children, a son Dustin (9), and a daughter Sharissa (5). Gary received a B.A. degree from Luther College in 1964. In May of 1968, he received a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary. Gary received a Master of Theology Degree in Pastoral Psychology from San Franciso Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California in 1969. He served as counselor of the Ecumenical Counseling Center of Clear Lake, Texas; co-pastor in Humboldt, Iowa; Minister of Counseling and Family Life in Houston, Texas; Pastor in Marble Falls, Texas and presently was serving as Senior Pastor of Midland Lutheran Church at Midland, Texas. He died of accidental causes at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 1983. Survivors are his wife, Lori Haaland of Midland, Texas; a son, Dustin and a daughter, Sharissa, both of Midland; his parents of Clarkfield; a brother, Sheldon, of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; a grandfather, two nieces and two nephews, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Memorials are preferred to be given to the Clergy Care Counseling Service. This will benefit Texas pastors of the three Lutheran Synods. IN MEMORY OF REV. GARY R.
