Frieda Antonie (Wieting) Kuhlmann was born on January 19, 1905 in Sandkrug, Oldenburg, Germany to parents Arend and Marie Wieting. She was baptized and confirmed at The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hatten, Oldenburg, Germany. Frieda came to Boyd, Minnesota in December of 1923 and on July 11, 1925 was married to Bernhard H. Kuhlmann, formerly of Hunthosen, Oldenburg, Germany. Frieda and Bernhard were married at Zion Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. Frieda and Bernhard lived in Boyd for over 50 years. She moved to Montevideo in 1986 and to Luther Haven in 1994. Frieda passed away at Luther Haven on Wednesday, December 18, 1996 at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 30 days. Frieda was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota and a present member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Montevideo. She was a Charter Member of the LWML. She is survived by her son, Roger (and Martha) Kuhlmann of Montevideo and five grandchildren: Kathi Lundstrom of Stuart, Florida; Barbara Moxness of Edina, MN; Nancy Bergeland of Madison, MN; Jon Kuhlmann of Montevideo, MN; and Mary Roberts of Roseville, MN; plus 15 great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces here and in Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernhard H. Kuhlmann, and three brothers and three sisters in Germany.
