Frieda Arlene Brock was born on February 2, 1919, in Normania Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Frank and Anna Brock. She lived in the Hazel Run, Minnesota area until the age of 15, when she moved with her family to Hanley Falls, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from school in Hanley Falls. She was a confirmed and devoted member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church for 70 years. She worked for several years at Eye's Family Store and at Bennett and Bennett Management Corporation. She was active in WELCA, it's quilting group, the Hanley Falls Study Club and senior citizens group. She enjoyed playing cards, board games and watching TV game shows. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She married Floyd Engel on March 23, 1938. From that union were born six children, all of whom survive. Sons Ron Engel and wife Dee of Anoka, Minnesota, Jerry and wife Carole of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, L. Bruce and wife Carol of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, daughters Kathy Bennett and husband Gary of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Becky Engel of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Debbie Larsen and husband Jeff of Naples, Florida; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Harris of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Virginia Brantman of Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her parents, and her brother Don.
