Fredrick Gunder Ohlson was born in Taafvelsaas, Smoland, Sweden, on April 17, 1883, to Lars and Caroline (Johnson) Ohlson. He was confirmed in Taafvelsaas, May 26, 1897, and came to the United States about 1900. He worked at different points in the neighborhood of Ogden, Iowa, until he returned to Sweden for a visit in 1911 and 1912. When he returned to Ogden, Iowa, he married Blenda Swanson, in 1913. To this union one son, Raymond, was born. In March, 1915, they moved to their present farm home in Friendship Township, where they have made their home for the past 36 years. Mr. Ohlson passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home at noon on December 27th, 1951. He leaves to mourn his wife; his son, Raymond; two grandchildren, Donna and LeRoy; and a niece and nephew in Sweden. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
