Fredrick Ernest Footh was born March 20, 1868, in Hancock Township, Carver County, Minnesota, the son of John and Caroline (Telthoester) Footh. He was baptized by Rev. Fisher and confirmed April 23, 1882, at Zion's Lutheran Church, Benton Township, Carver County, Minnesota, by Rev. Theodore Krumsieg. He came to Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with his parents at the age of 10 years. On November 8, 1900, he was united in marriage with Augusta Bertha Schulz. Rev. E.G. Fritz officiated. They settled on a farm in Wergeland Township where they lived until 1910, except for one year, 1902 to 1903, they lived near Sherwood, North Dakota, and in 1910 they bought their farm in Omro Township where he lived the remainder of his life. This union was belssed with four children: Walter Footh, Caroline (Mrs. Walter Galow), Leona (Mrs. Harold Anhalt), and Ervin Footh, who passed away in infancy in 1917. Besides his wife, he is mourned by his three children; one daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; six grandchildren: Mrs. DeLores Pierce, Marilyn, Myron, Dale and Karen Anhalt, and DuWayne Galow; one great granddaughter, Nancy Jo Pierce; two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Caroline Weise of Lafayette, Minnesota, Ed Footh of Fairmont, Minnesota, John Footh of Mankato, Minnesota, and Mrs. Otto Eckhardt of Blue Earth, Minnesota; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Footh; brothers: Albert, Henry, William and Christ Footh; and his sister, Mrs. Mary Anhalt. He was a faithful member of St. John's Church in Omro all these years, and served as church elder for nine years. He became ill July 4th, 1947, and had been bedridden since that time. He was a patient at the Clarkfield Hospital for one month in 1947, and otherwise was given patient care by his faithful wife and children. He contracted pneumonia shortly before his death and fell peacefully asleep at 20 minutes to 10 on the morning of January 6th, 1950, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 17 days.
