Obituary

Frances Elizabeth Sack was born February 20, 1902, on a farm north of Dawson, Minnesota, to parents Chris and Bertha (McMullen) Sack. She was the oldest of seven children. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. E. C. Eid at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. Frances attended elementary school in districts #55 and #56 in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County. In 1920 she graduated from Boyd High School and took normal training in Dawson. She taught country school for several years. After her mother passed away in 1919 at the age of 39, Frances stayed home with her father to keep the family together while the younger children grew up. She lived with and cared for her father until his death in 1960. Shortly thereafter she owned and operated the City Cafe in Boyd with her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Carl Nelson until Hazel's death in 1964. Soon Frances moved to Worthington, Minnesota, to the home of her sister Florence, to aid in the care of Florence's husband. This was her home until Florence died in May 1991. Following this she moved to Minneapolis to make her home with her sister Helen. In October 1992 Frances became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center and transfered her church membership to Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Frances passed away on Thursday, February 11, at the Clarkfield Care Center at almost 91 years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Lyla (Mrs. Selmer) Olson, Hazel (Mrs. Carl) Nelson, Cora (Mrs. Pete) Lund, and Florence (Mrs. Cecil) Benton; and two nephews, Peter Lund and Cecil Olson. She is survived by her brother Lyman, and sister Helen Sack both of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews. Frances was truly a servant.
