Obituary

Funeral services for Frandes Marie Brecke were held Saturday, April 13, 1974, at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Rev E.T. Fyrand officiating. Mrs. Duane Jacobson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Roger Cole as she sang "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Casket Bearers were Orton Berkvam, Kaye Christensen, Henry Halverson, Herman Halverson, Raymond Ohlson and Walter Wilson. Burial was at the church cemetery. Frances Marie Larson was born August 9, 1903, near Rochester, Minnesota, to Louis and Anne (Garvik) Larson. She was baptized there and later confirmed her faith at the Bergen Lutheran Church. She taught elementary school in this area until her marriage to Louie M. Brecke in 1937. They had two children: Jerry of Excelsior, Minnesota, and Annette (Mrs. William Jiran) of Hettinger, North Dakota. Since her marriage, Hazel Run, Minnesota, has been the home and the center of activity for Mrs. Brecke. Frances died at the University of Minnesota Hospital April 10, 1974, after a week's hospitalization. Survivors include her children; three brothers: Theodore of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Kalmer and Edwin of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; two sisters: Selma (Mrs. Sigurd Haugland) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Amanda (Mrs. Harold Haugland) of Mondovi, Wisconsin; and five grandchildren.
