Frances H. Carlson Werner was born October 10, 1911, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents John and Caroline (Christensen) Carlson. She was baptized November 26, 1911, at Spring Creek Church and confirmed November 28, 1926, at Starbuck, Manitoba, Canada. Frances and Arthur Werner were married March 29, 1947, by Rev. J.E.H. Akre at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Arthur and Frances lived east of Clarkfield and then moved to their farm in Omro Township of Yellow Medicine County. Neila Darlene joined the family in 1955 and Timothy Troy in 1965. The family remained on their farm until 1973 when they built their home in Montevideo, Minnesota. Arthur passed away in December of 1994. Frances remained in her home for about one year and then became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center and later Luther Haven in Montevideo. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and baking. She was a past member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and present member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Montevideo. Frances passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Luther Haven at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 13 days. She is survived by her family, Neila (and Ron) Sawatzke of Boyd, Minnesota, and Tim Blue of Granite Falls, Minnesota. She is also survived by grandchildren: Melissa (Bob) Wheeler of Twin Brook, South Dakota, Kevin Richardson of Montevideo, Minnesota; great grandchildren: Tasia (Don) Schmitz, Cody Miller, Dustin Miller, and Keegan Wheeler; and great great granddaughter, Brooklyn Schmitz. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Elsie Carlson and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur; and brothers: Clayton, Howard and Stanley Carlson; and sisters: Viola Loose and Ingeborg Olson. Blessed be her memory.
