Florence Beatrice Foss was born on January 11, 1909 to parents Fred and Bertha (Johnson) Paulson in Jackson County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Hauge Lutheran Church, rural Jackson, Minnesota. On January 24, 1928, she married Selmer Foss of Clarkfield. She made her home in the Clarkfield area since then. Florence was a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Florence passed away on Wednesday morning, June 28, 1995 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 18 days. She is survived by children: Gayle and husband Harold Johnson of Osseo, Minnesota, and Larry and wife Phyllis Foss of Champlin, Minnesota. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother: Dale Paulson of Lakefield, Minnesota, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Selmer, her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and one great grandson. She will always be remembered by her family and friends for her baking and the coffee pot was always on. Before her marriage she attended sewing school in Windom, Minnesota, and over the years had done much sewing and also the piecing and hand quilting of many dozens of quilts that her family and friends have in remembrance of her.
