Florence Burnette
(Kirkeby) [Grinager] Lynne
October 9, 1872 – December 13, 1902
Florence Burnette Lynne was born in Decorah, Iowa, October 9, 1872, the daughter of Karrine (Borgerson) Kirkeby and Martin Kirkeby. She moved to Minnesota with her parents in a covered wagon when she was six months old. Her parents took a homestead northwest of Clarkfield where she grew to womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1897 she was united in marriage to Bernard Grinager and to this union one son was born. In 1900, Bernard Grinager passed away. Two years later, on December 13, 1902, she was united in marriage to Peder A. Lynne and to this union five children were born. She lived on a farm northwest of Boyd in Lac qui Parle County until 1939 when she moved to Clarkfield to care for her father who passed away in June 1940 and she continued to make it her home. The past four years she has been cared for at different homes, including the home of Mrs. Joseph Lund, where she passed away Friday afternoon, September 5, 1958, at the age of 85 years, ten months and 26 days. She was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Surviving her are four of her children: Elmer of Minneapolis, Jeanette (Mrs. A. Couet) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Ordway of Clarkfield, Frances (Mrs. Jim Ronning) of Boyd; 32 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one brother, Olaus Kirkeby of Clarkfield. Preceding her in death are her parents; two husbands; two sons, Lester Lynne and Melvin Grinager; two brothers, Julius and Dan; and one sister, Pammeline. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
