Florence E. Anderson, 97, formerly of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria, Minnesota. Florence Amy Evangeline Anderson was born March 1, 1903, in Nicollet County, St. Peter, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in the New Sweden area where she attended country school. She was confirmed at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church on March 27, 1917, by Rev. J. Fremling and later attended Gustavus Adolphus College for one semester before marrying Roy R. Anderson on August 19, 1922. They made their home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, until 1991, when she moved to Fargo, North Dakota, after her husband's death. During her 69 years in Clarkfield she was very active in her husband's insurance business, the Augustana Lutheran Church and community organizations. Florence was a loving wife, caring mother, warm and gentle grandmother who devoted countless hours to helping her family and friends. She was a very humble person who never talked about her accomplishments. Florence consistently thought positively of everybody and gave encouragement to her daughter and grandchildren to excel. She was always interested in their activities and concerned for their welfare. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1991 after 69 years of marriage; two brothers, Henry and Edmund Bjorklund; and one sister, Blanche Bonderson. She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Deane) Nelson, Fargo, North Dakota; two grandsons, Brian (Linda) Nelson, Rochester, Minnesota, and David Nelson, Scottsdale, Arizona; and one great grandchild, Josephine Rose.
