Ewald August Wilhelm Voss was born April 1, 1903, in Oshkosh Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of August and Elizabeth (Kelm) Voss. He was baptized May 10, 1903, at Nicolai Lutheran Church, Oshkosh Township, Canby, Minnesota. In his youth the family moved to Tyro township where Ed was confirmed on April 1, 1917 at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, by Reverend Luttmann. Ed was united in marriage to Hertha Just on November 2, 1929, at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Louis Rosen officiating. Ed and Hertha were engaged in farming until retirement in November 1963 when they moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. Three sons were born to this union: Donald, Dennis, and David. Ed was preceeded in death by his parents, a sister, Anna, a brother, Helmer, and son, Donald. He is survived by his wife, Hertha, sons Dennis and David, daughters-in-law, Agnes, Bertha, and Sue, a sister, Olga, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Helmer (Minnie) Voss. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many relatives. Ed will be mourned by all who knew him as an active, respected part of his church and community.
