Evertt D. Nilson, age 58, passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, Minnesota, on July 24, 1983, from lung cancer. Evertt was born on August 31, 1924, to Nils and Alma (Erickson) Nilson in Brook Park, Minnesota. The Nilson family moved to Boyd, Minnesota in 1926 where Evertt attended school and worked. On May 20, 1943, he joined the armed forces and served in the Army in Europe during WWII. While still in Europe, he met and married Giena Gwenowefsa Olgazinska. In 1945 they returned to the United States to live in Estherville, Iowa, and moved back to Boyd in 1950 where he worked for AMPI as Chief Boiler Operator from April 2, 1962, until the time of his death. Evertt is survived by his former wife, Giena; his children, Mary (Mrs. Thomas) Hartfiel, Fridley, Minnesota, Larry Nilson, Boyd, and Ramona (Mrs. Bob) Schmitz, Boyd; five grandchildren; sisters, Marriam and Alice Nilson and Ethel Leenerts of Boyd and Mae Strand of Chaska, Minnesota; brothers Tony and Lloyd of Boyd; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nils and Alma; three sisters, Irene, Gena and Edith; and brother, Harold. IN MEMORY OF EVERTT D.
