Everette L.
Loomis
November 3, 1911 – May 24, 1937
Everette L. Loomis was born on November 3, 1911, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, to parents Charles and Augusta (Gustafson) Loomis. Due to sickness in his family, his early years were spent in an orphanage in Owatonna, Minnesota. As a teen, he spent time at the Ole Severson foster home. It was there that he completed his education and worked on the farm in Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Everette spent 3 1/2 years working in the CC Camp. He entered the United States Army in July of 1943 and served as a Private for 3 1/2 years in WW II in the 37th Infantry Division. He spent time in the Philippine Islands, where he received two Purple Hearts and other decorations and was Honorably Discharged from the service. Everette and Murvel Long were married April 8, 1936. To this union one child, Jacqueline Fayette was born and passed away, May 24, 1937. Everette and Murvel were happily married for 61 years until Murvel passed away on August 13, 1997. Everette became a resident at the Clarkfield Care Center in September of 1997. Everette passed away Saturday evening, June 24, 2000, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 22 days. He leaves to mourn a special nephew, Elmer Walls and wife Dorothy; brother-in-law Boyd Long; and several nieces and nephews; along with relatives in the Cannon Falls area. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Murvel; daughter Jacqueline; sister Oral; and brother Paul. Everette was a caring and loving husband, uncle, and friend. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and an active member of the VFW and American Legion of Clarkfield. His interests included bingo, cards, and visiting with many relatives and friends.
