Evelyn Odella Tongen was born August 8, 1918, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Alfred and Regina Stenson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bergen Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Lucius Tongen on April 7, 1940, at Bergen Lutheran Church. They lived on their farm in Lisbon Township for over 50 years. They have one son, Wayne Virkus and wife, Patricia, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and two grandsons, Dustin and Derek Virkus both of Clarkfield. Evelyn died en route to a Minneapolis hospital on July 16, 1995, at the age of 76. She was a life long member of Bergen Ladies Aid. She loved flowers, hand work, hardanger and watching her grandsons in sports. Evelyn is survived by her husband Lucius of Clarkfield, one son Wayne and wife Patricia, and two grandsons, Dustin and Derek, all of Clarkfield, and one brother, Arden Stenson of Alexandria, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Regina Stenson, sister Nora Johnson and brother Cyrus Stenson.
