Evelyn Eleanor (Zempel) Jorgenson was born January 13,1919, to parents Edward and Tillie (Eggars) Zempel of Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Evelyn attended country school in Chippewa County. Evelyn was united in marriage to Melvin Jorgenson on November 27, 1938. They lived on their farm until 1991 when they moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. Evelyn loved to garden and work with her hands. She was an excellent lefse baker. She also won several prizes for her crocheting and embroidery work. Evelyn loved music, reading, working jigsaw puzzles and playing dominoes, cards and marbles. Evelyn worked for a number of years at the Appleseth Cafe and at the Clarkfield Care Center. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother who always wanted the best for her family. Evelyn passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Monday, February 28, 2005, after a hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 86 years, 1 month, 15 days. She is survived by four children: Glen (and Mae) Jorgenson, Kenneth (and Agnes) Jorgenson, Ardith Anderson all of Clarkfield and Howard (and Barb) Jorgenson of Montevideo. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, three brothers, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, one sister, three brothers and three nephews. Blessed be her memory.
