IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn Leona
Frances Roedl
December 10, 1916 – February 11, 1989
Evelyn Leona Frances Roedl, 72, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died on February 11, 1989, in the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, where she had been since September 12, 1988. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 1989, from Augustana Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Joyce Piper Knorr officiating. Organist was Mary Koepp with congregational hymns for vocal music. Casket Bearers were Herbert and Walter Christensen, Karl Haaland, Jerry Just, Olaf Larson and Jesse Willander. Her final resting place is Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Evelyn Leona Frances Roedl was born to parents Francis and Reka (Olson) Roedl on December 10, 1916, at their farm home near Flasher, North Dakota. She was baptized by a Lutheran Circuit Rider Preacher as there were no churches in that area. Most of her elementary education was in a rural school and in the Clarkfield public school, at which time she lived with her aunt, Anna Rodness or with her Grandma Olson. After seven years of drought, they left Dakota and moved to Wadena, Minnesota, and continued farming. Evelyn was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wadena on August 30, 1946. Her father died on December 28, 1948, from a very sudden heart attack. Evelyn and her mother then moved to Clarkfield and lived with Anna Rodness. They later purchased a home in Clarkfield where Evelyn resided until last September. Her mother, Reka, passed away October 12, 1971 at the age of 90 years. She is survived by several cousins and many friends here and in several parts of our country with whom she corresponded every Christmas and oftener. In one of her notebooks she wrote, "I love my home and the Lord is so good to me, cares for me each day. He will do the same for you if you believe and ask for his help." Blessed be her memory.
